STUDIO KITCHEN
Long studio hours and a diet limited to ready meals and coffee produced an unhealthy working environment.
JJ’s was a simple mediation. My friend Joe and I began cooking. Preparing meals in the morning the food would slow-cook throughout the day, filling the studios with mouthwatering aromas of curries and stews. Serving this food to students actively changed the studio environment and JJ’s offered not only good food at a reasonable price but also a time to relax and have an archi-family meal.
Over six months we made enough profit to construct a communal studio kitchen equipped with a suspended dining table and bar. After a year JJ’s Kitchen further expanded to cater for other courses and host larger functions. As both Joe and I graduated university we passed on the legacy of the kitchen and the importance of food to the students in the years below. The kitchen continues to this day and has respectfully kept the name.
